Even with wide spread availability of biomass from these sectors its use had severe limitations because of following reasons:
- Density is too low for economical transportation.
- Moisture is very high to be economically used.
- Availability is restricted due to non-mechanized collection system which needs to be wide spread to reach the processing center.
- Processing MSW into fuel is quite lengthy, stage based process and requires very large infrastructure.
However, with the development of densification and separation technology like Briquetting, Pelleting and MSW to RDF conversion, most of these limitations are successfully countered.
