AK graduated from Jodhpur University with a BE degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965. From there, he joined Hindustan Steels, a large integrated steel plant and worked as maintenance and utility engineer for 10 years. Then for another 10 years, he worked as a manager of utility department overseeing processes regarding steel, chilled water, hot water, air, compressed air and different gases. During this time, he also led technical collaboration with the Soviet crew both in India and in the Soviet Union. He then moved into biomass processing and densification utilizing his expansive knowledge in material and processes.

He is a pioneer in designing Biomass Processing & Densification system and has more than 25 years of experience in this field. He is India’s leading expert on biomass to energy conversion and has been associated with various government as well as private “Waste to Energy” Projects. He is also one of the India’s leading authorities on MSW to RDF technology. He has been a technical advisor and consultant to various MSW to RDF projects in India.
